Lauren Baugh is a 28 yrs old, single mother of 7 yr old twins. 

As a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design,  she paid her own way with student loans and working at Applebee's restaurant. She then attended Paul Mitchell College of Cosmetology in Atlanta.  She returned to California with the twins and went back to school to study early childhood development. 

She attended school and worked,  while living with her mother and taking care of her twins. She got on county aid when she was still pregnant. It was hard for her to accept aid and other services,  because it made her feel like a failure as a parent. Over a period of time she began to see things differently.  "The system" isn't truly made to help you succeed,  but is a sanctioning system that's helps to hinder your success over one lifetime.
