Yung LA was raised on the Westside of Los Angeles, California. Born Timothy Randolph II on November 4, 1986 in Hollywood, California. He is 25 years old and motivated to not be – just another statistic. He’s not trying to compete , he just wants to make his own mark in the hip-hop music industry. The loss of his Father due to Cancer and the strength of his family inspired maturity at an early age. His responsibilities of being “Man of the House” kept him from making childish decisions.
He received AA Degree in Real Estate in 2007. He is currently a California State Licensed Real Estate Agent and Broker. He has been employed @ Century 21 Success in Long Beach California since 2007 and Management @ Unique Maintenance, Inc. Currently enrolling in the Music Institute to enhance his Musical Influences. His future plans also include O’s in Da Bank Music Production and Entertainment, Inc.
He is involved in the South Central areas mainly to help direct the youth in the areas of education and a different lifestyle. Black Fridai, Brothas from Anotha, All about the Mamas, Angel Tree Fellowship and Toys for Tots including Future plans for Yung 4 Youth 501C and his involvement in “Hair it is” founded by Antionette Scott gives him a chance to deal with Health disparities. His current and largest participation has been with Komen Breast Cancer.
In 2009 Black Fridai was adopted as a voice for West Coast Hip Hop Artists to be respected in the same fashion as other Mainstream artists. Black Fridai consists of Rosevelt, Yung LA, and C-Nice as the front runners. Since the Day Black Fridai went down to Power 106 to Boycott the radio station for presenting themselves as West Coast Radio, there have been a number of West Coast Artist being played on all the top radio stations.
Yung LA has performed at many clubs and events around the Southern California area. His performances have been among Too Short, GMalone, Suga Free, Jay Rock, JT the Bigga Figga, BFly, Problem and many other Artists. Many Cameos and Features, also. He is responsible for 3 mixtapes that sold extremely well amongst fans and peers. His cd’s were all hosted by Major D.J’s such as JiJi Sweet, DJ Far, DJ Dense, Joe Moses and a host of others. His You Tube views 40,000; 1500 Followers on Twitter; 300,000 plays on MySpace and 300,00 views on MySpace; 86% landslide – Hate it or Love it-93.5

Guest: Pete Peterson - Executive Director / Writer / Activist and Motivational Speaker


Pete was the first executive director of the bi-partisan organization, Common Sense California, which in 2010 joined with the Davenport Institute at the School of Public Policy to become the Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership, where he is Executive Director. Peterson also co-created and currently co-facilitates the training seminar, "Public Engagement: The Vital Leadership Skill in Difficult Times," which has helped over 500 public sector officials lead better, more participatory public processes.

Pete has worked around the state consulting with governments from Bell to Vallejo to improve how they engage their residents in policy-making on issues ranging from the budget to water policy. Pete has also consulted with municipal government in the use of online public engagement and data visualization platforms. Pete also teaches a masters’ class at Pepperdine University entitled “Leadership through Public Engagement.”

Peterson is a nationally recognized speaker and writer on issues related to civic participation and citizenship, having written for numerous blogs and news outlets including City Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Sacramento Bee, Orange County Register, and The American.com (American Enterprise Institute). He authored a chapter about the relationship between civic engagement and community building in the recently released book, Why Place Matters: Geography, Identity, and Civic Life in Modern America (New Atlantis Books, 2014).

Peterson earned his BA in history from George Washington University, and a Masters in Public Policy from Pepperdine University. He currently serves on the advisory committees to the Institute for Local Government’s Public Engagement Program (League of California Cities, and the University Network for Collaborative Governance.

Prior to his work in public engagement, Peterson worked in the marketing/graphic communications industry for a dozen years, consulting with clients ranging from American Express to Kenneth Cole. Pete lives in Santa Monica with his wife, Gina, and daughter, Elsa.
